3M High-Performance Green Masking Tape 401+

This green crepe paper tape is ideal for critical paint masking applications in the automotive and specialty vehicle industrial markets 

where strong adhesion and high-temperature resistance are required.

This tape features our exclusive solvent-free adhesive, which adheres to most surfaces, including metal, rubber, glass, and plastics, 

as well as EPDM rubber, and removes cleanly and easily in one piece. The high-strength crepe paper backing conforms well to irregular 

surfaces, prevents paint bleed-through from most industrial paint systems, and improves visibility during paint masking, contributing to ultra-sharp paint lines.

The 401+ High Performance Green Masking Tape is ideal for high-performance industrial painting applications on trucks, buses, trailers, trains, 

fire trucks, ambulances, and aircraft for two-tone applications. It is easy to tear, easy to handle, and strong and durable, making it easy to use; 

it removes in one piece. The tape conforms well, making it easy to mask around angles, contours, and irregular surfaces.

What is Masking Tape?

Masking tape is specifically designed to protect surrounding surfaces from overspray, create smooth paint lines, and remove easily and 

cleanly after the job is complete. 3M masking tapes offer good adhesion, resistance to solvents or water in paints, and are strong enough 

to hold plastic sheeting while still removing quickly and cleanly without damaging the underlying surface. The backing is typically crepe paper, 

which conforms well to curved or irregular surfaces. The tape is easily torn by hand without the need for tools.

A masking tape should clearly state which surfaces it will adhere to and the time frame within which it can be completely removed. 

If the tape is thin or poorly made, it may tear when removed from the roll or after use. Some masking tapes offer sufficient tensile strength 

for light commercial and industrial applications, including bundling, labeling, sealing, temporary repairs, lane marking, splicing, and surface protection.
